What is Counselling?
Counselling is a process allowing you the opportunity to talk about your situation/problems in a non-judgemental, confidential and safe environment. Counselling is not just a "cosy chat". It is structured, collaborative work where you and the counsellor work together helping you find a greater understanding for your situation and assisting you to find coping mechanisms.
Academy Counselling is an Integrative Counselling Practice, this means that it is not tied to any single school of thought; we use a combination of three therapies, Person Centered, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The practice believes that no one single approach works for every client in every situation, and that the therapy must fit the client, not the other way round. our primary counselling orientation is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
